Formula 1 has its official 2027 calendar, approved by the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council — and the Sprint count is jumping sharply, from six events to ten. Twenty-four Grands Prix across twenty-two countries, pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 24-27, and two returning venues: Portugal in June and Türkiye in October, slotted between Azerbaijan and Singapore.

Sprints will run for the first time at Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco (with two separate qualifying sessions instead of one) and Abu Dhabi, while Montreal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo and Lusail return to the format. F1 backs the expansion with numbers: Sprint-weekend viewership runs 12% higher than non-Sprint weekends, and 82% of Sprint attendees say the format adds value to their ticket.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali called the Sprint growth proof the sport “continues to go from strength-to-strength,” while FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem called the calendar “a strong reflection of the global appeal” of the sport. With ten Sprints, a double-qualifying weekend in Monaco and several revived venues, 2027 is shaping up to be the busiest season yet — the open question is how many mechanics survive it with their sanity intact.
