Even before he sat behind the wheel at Imola, Nikola Tsolov was already at the centre of Racing Bulls’ attention. The Red Bull family team used the test to take a closer look at the young Bulgarian as a real option for its 2027 line-up, with the current driver pairing still an open question.
Tsolov, this year’s favourite for the Formula 2 title, has long been regarded as one of the most promising talents in Red Bull’s academy. Growing speculation now also puts him forward as a potential replacement for current Racing Bulls drivers, should the management decide to refresh its lineup for next season.
The driver himself makes no secret of his ambitions or his confidence in his own readiness for the step up to Formula 1, while Red Bull continues to weigh carefully when the right moment is to give him his shot on a race weekend.
