The debut season of new team Cadillac in Formula 1 is proving far tougher than expected. With Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez behind the wheel, the team still hasn’t managed to score a point after nearly ten races in the championship – a result that raises a genuine question about the new project’s real competitiveness.

Both drivers have repeatedly stressed that the car’s pace sometimes looks promising, including after a strong showing in testing at Zandvoort, but that the team still needs either to make a serious step forward in development, or to rely on luck and chaos in a race to reach its first points. Pérez described the situation as “encouraging,” despite the obvious disappointment at the lack of results so far.

For a new manufacturer in a sport known for extremely tight competition through the midfield, going scoreless after this many races is a sign that the first year will inevitably be devoted to learning rather than to results – no matter how strong and experienced the team’s driver line-up is.
