Max Verstappen arrives in Austin with two consecutive victories, but warns that success in Malaysia and Singapore guarantees nothing in Texas. The Red Bull driver expects different conditions to pose fresh questions for the team.

The Dutchman explained that the previous two races had taken place in hot, humid conditions, where the power unit performed well. COTA offers a different environment, so he prefers to judge Red Bull’s prospects after getting to work on track.

The team has gained momentum following a difficult start under the new regulations. Nevertheless, Verstappen acknowledged that some aspects of the car cannot be changed this season. Those improvements will have to wait until next year.

In Austin, the four-time champion also endorsed Laurent Mekies’ contract extension. Red Bull’s team principal will stay until 2031, and Verstappen praised both his work and the atmosphere within the organisation.

He believes Mekies has earned the team’s trust through hard work and leadership during a challenging period. It is significant public backing for the man overseeing Red Bull’s efforts to rebuild consistent performance.

The question now is whether those recent wins represent a lasting trend. Austin provides a useful test precisely because it demands confirmation in different conditions. A strong weekend would mean more than extending a winning run: it would suggest the progress carries beyond the circuits where it has already worked. For now, Verstappen is choosing caution over sweeping promises.
