Mercedes has revealed a special livery for its W17, adding striking green accents to the team’s usual black design in tribute to long-time title partner PETRONAS. The design debuts at the Bahrain Grand Prix, which this year is hosted at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia — F1’s first visit to the track in eight years after last racing there between 1999 and 2017.

Team principal Toto Wolff called the weekend particularly meaningful for the team. ‘This weekend has extra significance for us because of our long-standing relationship with PETRONAS,’ he said. Wolff also flagged Sepang’s demanding characteristics, saying the track rewards ‘performance in the high-speed corners, good traction, strong tyre management and consistency in hot, challenging conditions.’

Beyond the visual change, Mercedes is also bringing a performance upgrade package to Malaysia as it looks to build on a competitive run and push further toward the front of the grid.
