The new deal signals the team’s commitment to stability after a change in leadership.
Red Bull has extended Laurent Mekies’ contract as team principal through the end of 2031. The Frenchman took over in July 2025, ending Christian Horner’s 20-year tenure in charge.
Mekies previously led sister team Racing Bulls and worked at Ferrari before joining Red Bull. His new contract means he will oversee the team through the next several seasons, as Formula 1 continues in a new technical era.
The decision follows a strong turnaround on track, with Max Verstappen winning back-to-back races in Malaysia and Singapore. Red Bull is still fourth in the constructors’ standings, so the next challenge will be turning that recent progress into consistent form.
