Hadjar Misses Monza Too With Wrist Injury, Lawson Gets a Second Straight Chance at Red Bull
Isack Hadjar’s wrist injury from a pit-stop practice mishap during the summer break still hasn’t fully healed, keeping Liam Lawson in the car alongside Verstappen for a second consecutive weekend.

Isack Hadjar remains out of the car for the Italian Grand Prix too, after the wrist injury that ruled him out of the Dutch Grand Prix still hasn’t fully healed. The Red Bull Frenchman hurt himself during a pit-stop practice session over the summer break.
The team gave Hadjar until Wednesday afternoon to prove his fitness to race, but the medical staff decided he needed more time to recover before getting back behind the wheel. Red Bull’s hope is that he’ll be ready for the Madrid race next weekend.
Taking his seat for a second consecutive race weekend is Liam Lawson, who will line up alongside Max Verstappen at Monza. The New Zealander left a good impression in the Netherlands, where his qualifying time was just 0.1 seconds slower than Verstappen’s, and the race ended with a seventh-place finish.
The seat freed up at Racing Bulls by Lawson’s temporary promotion also opens the door for Yuki Tsunoda, who gets another chance with the team. In the Netherlands, the Japanese driver came very close to the points and beat regular driver Arvid Lindblad.
Hadjar, 21, remains eighth in the overall standings despite the missed races. Red Bull hasn’t yet confirmed his seat for the 2027 season, but his strong performances this year suggest his spot on the grid isn’t under threat.
