Ferrari Issues an ‘Unofficial Statement’ After Hamilton and Leclerc’s Instagram Takeover

The two drivers took control of Scuderia Ferrari’s official account for two hours — a swapped profile picture, selfies, and footage from inside team meetings. The team responded with a rare dose of humour.

Some teams guard their image with military discipline, and Ferrari has traditionally been one of them. Which is exactly why the two hours before the Singapore Grand Prix weekend stood out: Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc somehow got hold of the official Scuderia Ferrari Instagram account — and used it exactly as anyone who knows them would expect.

What actually happened

The iconic prancing-horse profile picture was swapped for a casual selfie. What followed was Hamilton touring the garage and hospitality area, Leclerc asking fans if they liked his hair, and footage of both drivers interrupting team meetings and putting silly filters on each other.

Ferrari’s response — with a smile

“Scuderia Ferrari HP confirms that, over the past two hours, two individuals within the organisation gained unauthorised control of our social media channels. During this period, a series of highly questionable editorial decisions were made, including changes to our profile picture and the publication of content that did not undergo our standard approval procedures.”

The statement closed with a humour rarely seen from the Italian team: “We can confirm that the two suspects have been identified and the situation has now been contained. Full control of our accounts has been restored. We thank our fans for their understanding during this unprecedented incident.”

Fans wanted more

The reaction was immediate and unanimous. “This should happen every weekend,” one fan wrote. Another admitted to abandoning every plan for the day just to stay glued to Ferrari’s account. Comments ranged from pleas for a repeat to comparisons with “dad finds out how Snapchat filters work.”

Behind the joke sits a small reminder: with Hamilton third in the standings on 214 points and Leclerc fourth on 191, both drivers have every reason to be in a good mood — whoever happens to be holding the Instagram password at any given moment.
