Rafael Câmara leaves Baku at the top of the Formula 2 standings. The Invicta Racing driver was declared the winner of Feature Race 2 after Alexander Dunne, first across the line, was handed a five-second penalty. Behind them, Nikola Tsolov produced the drive of the day, climbing from 11th on the grid to second.

Victory decided by the stewards

A first-corner incident brought out the Safety Car, and two Virtual Safety Car periods followed, with many drivers diving into the pits. Once the stops had shaken out, Câmara briefly led, but Dunne soon passed him with DRS and the Brazilian stayed glued to his gearbox to the end.

Dunne took the chequered flag first, but a five-second penalty for crossing the pit entry line – the same offence that cost Tsolov grid places a day earlier – dropped him to third. Câmara was promoted to his third win of the season.

“Not the way we wanted P1 but overall it was a good race,” Câmara told the official F2 website.

Tsolov’s charge

Tsolov made his mandatory stop on Lap 11 alongside Câmara and Laurens van Hoepen, gaining time on his rivals. He then passed van Hoepen, set the fastest lap, used DRS to get by Martinius Stenshorne and was within DRS range of Câmara in the closing laps.
