Roman Bilinski proved that fortune favours the brave on the streets of Baku. The DAMS Lucas Oil driver started the Sprint Race from 13th and climbed to sixth, completing seven overtakes along the way.

Round 12 of the 2026 season in Baku came with an unusual format – a Sprint Race plus two Feature Races – making it a particularly valuable weekend in the points battle.

Fighting back at every turn

The Pole was in the thick of it all race long. Ritomo Miyata got ahead of him early on, only for Bilinski to strike straight back, and it was a similar story when Gabriele Minì went past – he was immediately focused on reclaiming the place.

The boldest move came on the final lap, when he dived down the inside of Kush Maini, reasoning that he had nothing to lose.

“I think part of Baku is you just have to send it,” Bilinski told the official F2 website, calling it a very solid race overall.

His sixth place rounded off a strong Sprint for DAMS Lucas Oil, with team-mate Dino Beganovic taking victory and later adding third place in Feature Race 1.

Points in both Feature Races too

The result followed a disappointing qualifying in which Bilinski missed out on the top 10. The team made improvements overnight, and he kept scoring for the rest of the weekend – seventh in Feature Race 1 and tenth in Feature Race 2.
