Baku Red Bull Isack Hadjar

Isack Hadjar’s second season at Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen has proven a rare chance to develop next to a four-time world champion. The Frenchman has already secured two podiums – at Monaco and Baku, the latter of which he called his best race weekend despite missing three races through a wrist injury.

According to Hadjar, the difference isn’t in any single corner but in consistency: “I can match him in individual corners, but it’s how often he does it. That makes the big difference at the end.”

He described Verstappen’s level as free of peaks and dips: “There’s no peak, it’s flat. It’s up there, but it’s flat” – in other words, the Dutchman rarely has a bad moment and almost never makes mistakes.

Despite the competitive challenge, the working relationship between the two remains strong – Hadjar calls Verstappen “a very, very kind guy” and says he feels “one very, very lucky guy” to learn from him. The Frenchman’s 2027 contract has already been confirmed by Red Bull, backed personally by Verstappen, following a strong showing in Azerbaijan.
