Ferrari Calls Emergency Briefing to Defend Vasseur After Horner’s Comments

Christian Horner reignited speculation about his Formula 1 future after telling The Times that Ferrari is “the only team” he would return to the pit wall for, without demanding a stake in the team – a condition he had previously insisted on for any comeback.
The Scuderia’s response came quickly: a hastily arranged media briefing on Tuesday morning, where a spokesperson said “Ferrari has made its choices and has full confidence in the leadership of Fred Vasseur,” adding that the team would continue to back him. The statement made clear the response was aimed not only at Horner’s comments but at “the stories that have followed and keep multiplying.”
Vasseur is in his fourth season in charge at Ferrari (since 2023) and signed a multi-year contract extension last year. After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, he admitted the team wasn’t operating “in complete peace” because of the rumors surrounding his position, calling them “tiring.”
Ferrari’s public show of support is rare – a sign that the speculation has reached a point where staying silent would have cost more than speaking out.
