The Formula 2 championship leader has agreed a multi-year deal with the American team and will take Esteban Ocon’s seat.
Rafael Câmara will race for Haas in Formula 1 from the 2027 season after signing a multi-year contract with the team. The 21-year-old Brazilian will replace Esteban Ocon, whose departure at the end of the current season was announced last month.
Câmara arrives in F1 as a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and the current leader of the Formula 2 championship. After winning the Formula 3 title in 2025, he carried that momentum into F2, where he leads the standings on 207 points with two rounds remaining.
“I’m really excited to sign such a young, amazing talent,” Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu said. He highlighted Câmara’s speed and ability to adapt quickly, including during his test programme with the team in Portugal.
Câmara is expected to partner Oliver Bearman, who also came through the Ferrari Driver Academy. His promotion means Brazil is set to have two drivers on the Formula 1 grid in 2027: Câmara and Gabriel Bortoleto, who races for Audi.
