Christian Horner is set to receive a reported payout worth around $100 million following his departure from Red Bull, after negotiations over the early termination of his contract were concluded. The most specific figure reported by the Financial Times is about £80 million. The paper said Horner’s contract, which was due to run until 2030, could have been worth more than £100 million in sterling when bonuses were included.

Horner was dismissed from his role in July 2025 after nearly two decades leading Red Bull Racing. The team formally confirmed his departure on 22 September 2025, following weeks of negotiations over the terms of his exit. Red Bull did not publicly disclose the financial details, so the exact settlement has not been officially confirmed by the company.

The widely reported “$100 million” figure is an approximate conversion of the reported settlement, while the £80 million estimate comes from the Financial Times’ reporting. These are media estimates rather than an official disclosure. The distinction matters: the separate figure of more than £100 million referred to the potential total value of Horner’s contract through 2030, including bonuses.

According to the Financial Times, the settlement also allowed Horner to return to Formula 1 with another team from the second quarter of 2026. He left Red Bull as the sport’s longest-serving team principal. During his tenure, Red Bull won 14 Drivers’ and Constructors’ championships, and Laurent Mekies took over as team principal.
